Here is our weekly wrap-up – you’ll find finely curated photos from the general chit chat blended with some creative shots from Tersha’s latest challenge on Backlighting in Photography! And of course, we’ll introduce some worth-seeing shots from the Feedback Forum too!

And why not mention it, this particular challenge was especially crowded, and it was a beautiful joy picking the featured shots!

Photo Of The Week – January 10th, 2022

This time POTW goes to @joubie and her gorgeous shot of a hyena.

The rim lighting combined with the golden tones and the reflection in the puddle looks magical here! This photo is great from the technical as well as the artistic point of view and it’s such a joy to at those warm golden colors.

People usually don’t like hyenas and this shot is certainly one of the prettiest hyena portraits I’ve ever seen.

Congrats, Charmaine.

When thinking about backlighting, one usually thinks of artificial light sources carefully directed towards a predefined subject. Here, we can see how naturally available light can be used for the same aesthetic purpose.

“A lovely golden hour at a nature reserve.”

Jim got his ultimate lens and shared a pic with us during this week. But the best part is the story he accompanied his pic with!

Robert gave us an exquisite explanation of what anamorphic lenses are all about; so if you are curious about these particular pieces of gear, take a look at this post.

Patrick highlighted this wonderful storytelling photograph made by Click.

He also shared this colorful butterfly.

David captured a fierce looking black chromed ant.

He also shared this brilliant night sky shot.

We welcome Rob back since he was pretty sick these past weeks. Good thing, it wasn’t Covid!

And if you want to see more shots, take a look at the Members Picks! A place where our community is able to share their favourite photographs from our forums every week.

We’d Love To Hear Your Thoughts
